Chris Choi
Lecturer
Embedded Systems Engineering

I graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. I was part of the cohort directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This provided new, unplanned challenges and left myself and my classmates many unknowns.  This changed my future goals and I decided to pursue a master's degree in Embedded Systems (from CU Boulder) from which I graduated in spring of 2022. I had the privilege of being an SA for Randy Spalding (Instructor for ECEN 5833) for two semesters and in spring of 2023, I joined him as Lecturer Adjunct for a third semester. Throughout my master's degree, I worked in the research and development division for Eaton Corporation designing bi-directional electric vehicle chargers and other microgrid resiliency designs. From there, I joined Copper Labs, a Boulder-local startup, where I currently work as an Embedded Software Engineer developing cutting-edge utility meter infrastructure products. Working at a startup, I wear many hats ranging from high-level system design, hardware design, and debugging firmware. In my free time, I enjoy playing indoor soccer and reading about the latest and greatest in automotive technology.
