ECEN 4517 - Power Electronics and Photovoltaic Power Systems Laboratory

Catalog Data ECEN 4517 (2). Power Electronics and Photovoltaic Power Systems Laboratory. Focuses on analysis, modeling, design, and testing of electrical energy processing systems in a practical laboratory setting. Studies power electronics converters for efficient utilization of available energy sources, including solar panels and utility. The experimental projects involve design, fabrication, and testing of a solar power system.
(Meets with ECEN 5517.)
Credits and Design 2 credit hours: 1 hour of lecture and 3 hours of laboratory per week. Elective course.
Prerequisite(s) ECEN 4797 or ECEN 5797, Introduction to Power Electronics
Textbook Erickson and Maksimovic, Fundamentals of Power Electronics, Kluwer, 2001 (optional), and notes prepared by the instructor.
Course Objectives To provide laboratory experience to supplement theory in Energy Conversion 1.
