ECEN 5134 - Electromagnetic Radiation and Antennas


Catalog Data ECEN 5134 (3). Electromagnetic Radiation and Antennas. The elementary antenna source, thin wire antennas,loop antennas, radiation patterns and antenna gain, aperture sources such as horns and dishes, linear arrays, mutual effects, ray formulations, antenna noise and temperature, transmission formulations.
Credits and Design 3 credit hours. Elective course.
Prerequisite(s) ECEN 3410, Electromagnetic Waves and Transmission
Textbook Antenna Theory, Analysis and Design, Balanis, Wiley,1982.
  
Course Objectives To provide engineers with in-depth background in antenna design methods embracing a wide range of frequencies.

  4. Aperture antennas, patterns, gain.
  5. Transmit-receive systems.
  6. Quasi-optics, reflector and lens systems at cm and mm wavelengths.
