ECEN 5645 - Introduction to Optical Electronics

Catalog Description: This course includes an introduction to lasers, Gaussian optics, modulators, nonlinear optics, optical devices, and other related devices.

Prerequisite: ECEN 3410, Electromagnetic Waves and Transmission

  3. Gaussian beams.
  4. Optical resonators.
  5. Interaction of light and atoms.
  6. Laser theory and examples.
  7. Second harmonic generation and parametric oscillators.
  8. Electro-optical modulators.
  9. Noise in optical detectors.
  10. Semiconductor lasers.
