ECEN 5807 - Modeling and Control of Power Electronics Systems


Catalog Data ECEN 5807 (3). Modeling and Control of Power Electronics Systems. Modeling and control topics in power electronics. Averaged switch modeling of converters, computer simulation, ac modeling of the discontinuous conduction mode, the current programmed mode, null double injection techniques in linear circuits, input filter design, and low-harmonic rectifiers.
Credits and Design 3 credit hours. Elective course.
Prerequisite(s) ECEN 5797, Power Electronics 1
Textbook Erickson and Maksimovic, Fundamentals of Power Electronics, Kluwer, 2nd edition, 2000.
  
Course Objectives To provide students with the fundamental concepts of power electronics and to equip them for research in the area.

  1. Converter control system measurement, analysis, and design techniques.
  2. Current-programmed control of PWM converters.
