TCP/IP Printers In Windows XP

Use the following steps to setup a printer in Windows XP for direct TCP/IP printing.

In general, this is the preferred method of using all ECE printers with Windows XP.

  1. Go to START: SETTINGS: PRINTERS.

  2. Choose "Add Printer".

  3. Click "Next".

  4. Choose "Local Printer" and Unselect "Automatically detect....".

  5. Click "Next".

  6. Choose "Create a new port" and set "Type" to "Standard TCP/IP port".

  7. Click "Next".

  8. Under "Printer Name or IP Address" enter the hostname of the printer.
    Examples: "ecedell-color.colorado.edu", "ecemfp-1b55.colorado.edu", "ece-xerox.colorado.edu"

  9. Click "Next" and "Next" again, then "Finish".

  10. You can now point the installer to the location of the driver by choosing "Have Disk...".
