Course:	ECEN/CSCI 4593 - Computer Organization MWF 12 noon - 12:50pm FLMG 103 (Fleming Law)

Prerequisites:	ECEN 3350 Programming of Digital Systems (or ECEN 2120 Computer as Components, or CSCI 2400) ECEN 2350 Logic Design Programming experience in C (or C++).
Grading:	Homeworks: 25% Project: 20% Midterm Exam: 20% Final exam: 35%

Final Exam:	Wednesday, May 9, 2012, 4:30pm - 7:00pm.
Midterm Exam:	Either Friday, March 9, 2012 or Thursday, March 16, 2012.
Homework Policy:	Homework assignments will be posted on the course website. The following will be strictly enforced: Each assignment is due at the beginning of the lecture period when it is due. No late homework will be accepted. Homework assignments are provided to reinforce or expand on topics discussed in lecture. They may also touch on topics that will be covered in exams. It is to your advantage to work on the problems yourself. You are encouraged to discuss homework problems with your classmates. However, everyone must write up their own unique solution. You are encouraged to make a copy of your homework before turning it in. Returned homework should be saved. Any question regarding the grading of a problem set must be raised within a week of its return date.
Project:	There will be a project assigned to be undertaken during the semester. The project will be a programming assignment and may involve a significant amount of work, depending on you programming ability. For this project you are encouraged to work in groups of two. Details about the project and schedule will be announced later in the semester.
Incompletes and Academic Misconduct:	College rules are strictly followed in giving incompletes. Please see the University of Colorado Honor Code for policies regarding cheating and academic misconduct.
Classroom etiquette:	To have an environment that encourages learning and shows respect for the students in the class and the professor, please try to abide by the following: Come to class on time. Coming in late is disruptive and discourteous. Do not read newspapers during the class. If you use a laptop to take notes, use it only to take notes. Class time should not be used for web-surfing. Turn-off your cell phones. Some of these behaviors are extremely distracting not only to the lecturer, but also to other students. Of course, participation in class discussions is always encouraged.
