Course Project

In this first of several write-ups that there will be before one even needs to decide on a project topic, there will be first some discussion of polarized light, than some review of linear algebra with strong parallels to the description of polarized light, followed by an exposition of the postulates of quantum mechanics, again, presented with strong parallels drawn to the description of polarized light of the first section of the write up. Equivalent material on polarized light appears in most any undergraduate or graduate text on either electromagnetics or optics. There is an appendix in Robinett on linear algebra. Dirac notation is explained on Robinett, first on chapter 7 and then is used later on throughout the portions of the text following chapter 7. The postulates of quantum mechanics are all in Robinett, although not stated as succinctly as here in any one place.
