Homework Assignment 1: Intro to MATLAB/Simulink and Averaged-Switch Modeling

Assignment to be turned in

Problem 1 [10 pts]: Bode plots of output impedance and line-to-output transfer function. Solution MATLAB files: syncbuck_OL.mdl, syncbuck_CL.mdl, Zout_Gvg.m

Problem 2 [30 pts]: (problem statement corrected 1/16) MATLAB/Simulink modeling of a synchronous buck converter with input LC filter. Although this is not required, if you upload your work via CULearn, you may also upload your simulation files. Uploaded work may be used by the instructor to provide additional examples or library components to the rest of the class. Solution MATLAB files: syncbuck_OL_LCfilter.mdl, syncbuck_inputfilter.m

Problem 3 [30 pts]: problem 7.15 textbook, second edition. Solution

Problem 4 [30 pts]: problem 7.16 textbook, second edition. Solution

Reading and simulation assignments

Read through the notes posted on the MATLAB/Simulink page. The examples posted are directly related to problems 1 and 2.

Read Section B.1 of Appendix B, and run Spice to repeat the simulation example of Section B.1.3. You are welcome to use the netlist file from the textbook. You don't need to turn anything in, but let the instructor know if you encounter problems.
