Additional information for CAETE/NTU students
It is expected that students taking the course remotely will run no more than one week behind the on-campus students. You should establish a regular schedule for watching the recorded lectures. You should then mail your homework on or before the day when you would normally watch the recorded lecture of the on-campus students turning in their homework.
Streaming video will be available for download via the web, and is usually posted later in the afternoon of the lecture. With this option, off-campus students will typically run one day behind the on-campus students. Contact the instructor for instructions on how to connect to the web lectures.
You may mail or fax your homework, directly to Prof. Erickson at the address/telephone number listed below. Do not send the homework to CAETE, and do not send your homework with returned tapes or other materials -- it will get lost. Scanning and emailing of assignments will be accepted only in a pdf file smaller than 1 MB (use 1-bit black and white, at 200-300 dpi, with all pages in a single pdf file); if the file doesn't print quickly and correctly on Erickson’s HP laserprinter, you will be required to transmit your assignments via other means. It is a good idea to retain a copy of your homework.
Mailing address for homework:
Prof. Bob Erickson
Campus Box 425
ECE Department
University of Colorado
Boulder, CO 80309-0425
FAX number for homework:
(303) 492-2758 (ECE department fax machine)
Be sure that the fax cover page lists Prof. Erickson as the recipient, and notes that the fax contains ECEN5807 homework.
Regarding Educational Officers (EO): the course includes midterm and final take-home exams lasting four to seven days each. Whether an EO is needed depends on the manner in which these exams will be administered to you. There are two choices: (a) CAETE mails the exam to your EO, who then hands the exam to you at a time that you choose. The EO is responsible for collecting the exam by the deadline and mailing it to the instructor; or (b) you send an email to Prof. Erickson when you are ready to start the exam, and he emails a pdf file containing the exam to you. You fax your completed exam to Prof. Erickson by the deadline, and an EO is not needed. You may elect either choice. It is not necessary to take the exam at the same time as the on-campus students, but you should attempt to stay no more than one week behind.
Office hours for off-campus students
- You are welcome to call Prof. Erickson with your questions, at (303) 492-7003.
- Telephone office hours TBA.
- You can also send your questions via email.
Off-campus students should be sure to be on schedule at the end of the semester, to avoid receiving an incomplete grade. Additional info
