A printer might not be set up for each of you on your accounts when you first log in. The easiest way to set up the printer in the logic lab follows:
Click on the "Start" menu... ...go to "Run..." ...Type "\\eceuglab-pdc\logic" at the Open: prompt... ...click "OK"...
Once you have done this, Windows will tell you "Before you can use the printer '\\eceuglab-pdc\logic' it must be setup on your computer. Do you want Windows to setup this printer and continue this operation?"
...Click "OK"
The printer status window will open up, where you can set the logic printer as your default by clicking the "Printer" drop down menu and checking the "Set as default" option.
Now you should be good to print.
How to reach the embedded system design server from outside the CU network: Primary Option
You will need to use SSH to gain access. The name of the server is eceuglab, or eceuglab.colorado.edu from outside the CU network.
You can download the ssh client from: ftp://ece.colorado.edu/pub/ssh/SSHWinClient.exe
There have been several emails floating around with respect to being able to log into eceuglab.colorado.edu from off-campus computers. As it turns out, access to eceuglab is allowed from any machine on the colorado.edu domain. This means that if you can log into any machine on the colorado.edu domain, you can ssh into eceuglab. As far as I know, eveyone in the class is allowed to create an account for themselves on ucsub.colorado.edu (this can be done thru the plus system). So, all that needs to be done is the following and you should be set (without having to worry about any issues that might arise as a result of your ISP)
If the primary option described above does not work for you, then here is a backup option. THIS OPTION SHOULD ONLY BE PURSUED IF THE PRIMARY OPTION ABOVE DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU
You will need to use SSH to gain access. The name of the server is eceuglab, or eceuglab.colorado.edu from outside the CU network.
You can download the ssh client from: ftp://ece.colorado.edu/pub/ssh/SSHWinClient.exe
You also need to send an email to the sysadmin: ecehelp@colorado.edu
He needs to add your IP address or subnet that you are on to his list. The server is not open to the world, so if you want access to the server from your home and work, you will need to give him both of those internet addresses. If you are sending him an email from the computer you want access from, he can get what he needs from the header of the email.
Don't worry if you have a dynamic IP address, most people do at home. He will add the entire subnet you are on.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is the way he wants to do it. Just tell him in the email what class you are in and that you would like access to the eceuglab server from outside the CU network.
Once you can log in, you will have access to the unix server and the programs that are running on it, as well as all the files that you put in your account.
