http://www.ia.ac.cn/ifac99/ifac99.html

I am glad to report that the preparation of the IFAC '99 Congress is in very good shape. The recent National Organizing Committee (NOC) meeting chaired by the NOC Chairman, Prof. Y. X. Lu was held in Beijing on December 26, 1997. A well organized NOC working team has been formed, and Prof. B. L. Sun, the Vice President of the Chinese National Member Organization (NMO) has now taken the position of NOC Secretary General. Many control experts having international experience were selected to join the working team. In addition, a well-known professional organization, the China International Science and Technology Conference Center will be jointly working with the NOC. In order to keep a reasonable registration fee level and to support student authors and some authors from developing countries, the NOC and Chinese NMO are also working on fund raising for the IFAC Foundation. The Congress and IFAC Council and Related Meetings will be held at a modern International Convention Center, and a number of hotels of varying price ranges are nearby.

The Congress International Program Committee (IPC) working team headed by Prof. H. F. Chen, IPC Chairman, has been organized, and a detailed timetable from paper submission, review and publication has been set up. The deadline for receiving congress paper submissions is June 15, 1998. Pre-Congress Tutorial and Industrial Workshops are also being planned under the direction of Dr. M. Masten, IFAC TB Vice Chairman, and an International Exhibition of Control Industry will also be held at the Congress.

On behalf of IFAC and the Chinese NMO, I welcome you to attend the IFAC '99 Beijing Congress, Pre-Congress Workshops and Exhibition.
