ACC '99 1999 American Control Conference
http://www.mu.edu/acc1999

The 1999 ACC will be held June 2-4 at the Hyatt Regency in San Diego, CA. The technical program consists of 18 parallel tracks of invited and contributed paper sessions, including 7 tutorial sessions. In addition, a wide spectrum of valuable and interesting topics will be offered in six technical workshops; three are planned prior to the conference and three will be held after the conference.

The technical program reflects the rapid growth and strong interest in the field of control systems engineering, which provides a good balance between control theory and a broad spectrum of practical applications. The 1999 ACC has placed an emphasis on Industry and Applications (I&A), with several special tracks on I&A sessions organized and identified in the Technical Program. To further serve the interests of our industrial participants, the 1999 ACC also has several Tutorial Sessions, each starting off with an hour-long survey of the field followed by four brief state-of-the-art presentations of industry applications.

The technical program also includes three Plenary Lectures by outstanding control systems researchers. Professor Robert Skelton will talk on "System Design: The Absentee in System Theory". Professor Richard Murray, the 1997 Donald P. Eckman Award recipient, will give a plenary lecture on "Nonlinear Dynamics and Control of Fluid Systems with Applications to Turbomachinery". Finally, Professor Ioannis Kanellakopolous, the 1998 Eckman Award winner, will make a presentation on "Autonomous Vehicle Systems: A New Paradigm for Control Research and Education".
