The preparations for the IFAC 1999 World Congress are proceeding
smoothly. About 2200 papers from 70 countries and regions were
submitted for possible presentation at the congress, and approximately
1560 high quality papers have been accepted.

research and industrial applications will be given on July 4.

volumes, and the plenary and index volume. The registration fee

A number of social events are planned, including the Opening Ceremony
and Welcome Reception on July 5, a Congress Banquet on July 8, and
the Closing Ceremony on July 9. Several technical tours are also
being arranged to both universities and enterprises in the Beijing
area. A number of additional tours are also planned, to offer
participants a very good opportunity to appreciate the Chinese
culture, ancient civilization, and people's daily life and traditions.
A valid passport and visa are required for visiting China. Upon
receipt of your registration form, you will be sent an invitation
letter with which you can apply for an entry visa at the Chinese
Embassy or the nearest Consulate General.
