Abstract:
This paper proposes and analyzes a criterion for database update
frequency in universal digital portable communications (UDPC), based on
the rate of diffusion of mobile subscribers. More frequent updates
reduce the search area, which reduces the expected paging time and
paging traffic at the expense of database size.
