The Java SRC Simulator

The Java simulator will run on any computer that has the Java 1.1 Java Runtime Environment installed. The Java 1.1 JRE is currently available free from Sun Microsystems for the Solaris, Windows 95, and Windows NT environment. Java 1.1 JRE's will be available in Fall 1997 for the Macintosh . The Sun web site also contains information about obtaining the Java 1.1 JRE for the Linux and SunOS platforms.

The simulator is invoked by issuing the command,
% java SRCSim

or

% java SRCSim binfilename

The result of issuing the latter command on file tst.bin is:

Notice the center row of buttons that allow the user to

• run,
• halt,
• single step,
• load a file,
• print the simulator,
• clear registers, memory, and breakpoints.

The text fields and center checkboxes allow users to

• set breakpoints, and
• examine and change registers and memory locations.

Also notice that the simulator disassembles and displays the next eight instructions to be executed.

Ascii hex files suitable for input to the simulator can be assembled using the Java SRC Assembler
